Printing on textiles, creating a textile collage and appliqueing it to a handmade shoulder bag.
The students are introduced to the technique of printing on fabric with rubber stamps and acrylic paints. They produce their own images and then create sewn textile collages. They then make a lined shoulder bag on which their collages are appliqued. The student takes away her own completed artwork.
At this Printing on Textile workshop Chris and Lin made bags whilst Sam created a Textile Journal. The latter is offered as a separate workshop.
The following pictures were taken at the Printing on Textiles workshop organised by the Artdiva, Sherie Eddy, at Schaumburg in January 2017.
We appliqued textile collages to both sides of the bags and so the attendees model their bags to show both of their collages.
The following pictures show the textile collages appliqued to a wall hanging and mounted and framed.
